Enjoy listening to poetry—or share some writing of your own—with a special edition of Poetry in the Boro on Sunday evening, November 10. We’ll be celebrating SUGAR FIX, the new poetry collection by PitB founder and Murfreesboro Poet Laureate, Kory Wells. The book is Kory’s debut full-length collection, published by Terrapin Books a week shy of her 50-something birthday. Kory will read and be in conversation with fellow poet and PitB co-curator Amie Whittemore about second acts, second chances, and writing your obsessions. An hour of open mic follows the feature.
We’ll be at the Walnut House, 116 N. Walnut. This event is free and open to the public, thanks to support from MTSU Write. Water, soda, beer and cider will be available for purchase from the Walnut House; cash and credit accepted. And of course there will be some complimentary sweet treats for your sugar fix! Doors open at 6:00 PM for book sales and mingling. After the 7:00 feature, there’s time to mingle and purchase books before our open mic time begins. Readers can share one piece of poetry or spoken word. Reading a favorite poem by another writer is fine, too. If your piece is over 4 minutes, please speak to the hosts to see if we can accommodate that.
Copies of SUGAR FIX will be available for $15 cash and Venmo; $16 credit.
Street parking is available for the Walnut House along Walnut, Main and College. There are no parking time limits enforced on weekends.
WORD CHALLENGE: The theme this month is to write about one of your obsessions.
