Enjoy listening to poetry and spoken word—or share some writing of your own—with Poetry in the Boro the evening of Sunday, August 16. It will be a special night as we celebrate our 4th birthday! Our popular feature of “Actors Reading Poetry” returns, with the help of our friends at Murfreesboro Little Theatre (MLT). Following that, we’ll have open mic with a focus on haiku, tanka, and other short forms.

At 7:00, we’ll start live-streaming on Facebook, beginning with a short segment of MLT Actors Reading Poetry. Do you have a favorite poem by a classic or contemporary author you’d like to hear? Send a link or the text of it to us by Tuesday evening, 8/11, to poetryintheboro@gmail.com.
Following that, we’ll have the open mic.
Open Mic Details
It will be SHORT FORM NIGHT – please share haiku, tanka, or other short form poetry. Because it’s our birthday, we especially would love if you write poems inspired by some of our previous events. Who remembers that hot, hot night at the Green Dragon? How we spilled out the door at Let’s Make Wine? The dark coziness of MLT? The sweet vibe of the Walnut House? Or maybe you remember how a certain poet took the stage. Write your memories and take us there again!
