Enjoy listening to poetry and spoken word—or share some writing of your own—with Poetry in the Boro on Sunday, Feb. 14. An open mic will follow a short feature by poet Britton Shurley.
We’ll be starting at 6:45 Central time so you can connect early and chat with friends. Bring your favorite snack or beverage! We begin at 7:00. As usual, please plan on 1 longer or 2 short poems, no more than 4 minutes.
For this format, we ask that you keep your content “PG-13.” All styles of poetry are welcome. If you have questions, let us know.
ABOUT OUR FEATURED POET: Britton Shurley is author of the chapbook Spinning the Vast Fantastic (Bull City Press, 2021), and his poetry has appeared in such journals as Southern Humanities Review, Hampden-Sydney Poetry Review, and Southern Indiana Review. He is the recipient of Emerging Artist Awards from the Kentucky Arts Council in both 2011 and 2016. He is an Associate Professor of English at West Kentucky Community & Technical College where he edits Exit 7: A Journal of Literature & Artwith his wife, the poet, Amelia Martens. They live in Paducah, Kentucky with their daughters and curate the Rivertown Reading Series.
