Join the next Bloom Stage collaboration on August 25, 2022, with Lessons Learned: Fables to Folklore and Forces of Nature. This show will take place at the Walnut House, 116 N Walnut Street (off the square in downtown Murfreesboro). Doors at 6:30 pm with wine and light refreshments, and the show starts at 7 pm.
Inspired by the whimsy and warnings of tales passed down through fables and folklore as well as the times we should’ve known better, Lesson Learned will feature the poems and stories of Nick Bush, Sidney Blaylock, Jr, Lindsay Ferrier, Elizabeth Hedgepath, Jan Merriman, Elizabeth (Zabby) Myers, and Aaron Shapiro; along with the music of Cassie Joy Sistoso, visual art by Dawna Magliciano and a live art performance by Gregory Lannom! There will be TWO OPEN MIC segments throughout the show, so prepare a maximum 4-minute piece to share on the theme and email poetryintheboro@gmail.com to put your name in the hat for a slot.
Bloom Stage is a quarterly event that brings a blend of storytelling, poetry, music and art to the Murfreesboro stage at Walnut House. The series is produced by Kara J Kemp with assistance from Kory Wells, and this show will be co-produced with Amy Harris-Aber. The Bloom Stage celebrates the ability of art to honor both the diversity and commonality of human experience, and to satisfy a vital human need for connection. It seeks to present established and emerging storytellers, poets, performers and artists and to encourage unity among communities whose stories often go unheard.
Admission is free thanks to a sponsorship by Shannon Wheeler and Kara Kemp. Donations will be accepted at this free performance.
