Join us to listen to some poetry—or share some writing of your own—at our annual solstice reading on Tuesday, Dec. 20. Doors open for mingling and an informal writers/creators market at 5:30 PM. We’ll start the open mic at 6:30 for about an hour, and have time for more mingling afterward.
We’ll be gathering at the Oaklands Mansion Event Center, 900 N. Maney Ave. in downtown Murfreesboro. As you approach the mansion, the event center and its parking is to the left.
A $5 contribution toward our expenses is appreciated. Complimentary refreshments will be available.
ABOUT THE WRITERS/CREATORS MARKET
If you have a book or other creative work you’d like to sell, please learn more and register online.
ABOUT THE OPEN MIC
Open mic readers can share poetry or spoken word: 2 pieces or 4 minutes, whichever comes first. Reading a favorite poem by another writer is fine, too. For those of you who have books to sell at the market, this will be the time to read a poem from your book.
CHALLENGE WORDS
This month, we especially invite you to share poems that lend a little light to the short days of winter. If you like, write a piece to share that includes one, some, or all of the following words chosen by our audience last time:
holiday | observe | agitate | conjugate | retreat | play | rabbit | burrow | reindeer | icicle
