More about this show
We all gotta eat, and food is many things to many people. For some of us, it’s a love language. Others use it as a direct connection through time between themselves and their favorite people. It’s medicine that can keep the doctor away, and it can even be a gateway to adventure. What do you think of when you get a hankering, or a general kind of hunger? Join us for an evening of sweet, savory, and spicy stories centered on cuisine and culinary flair. We invite you to have a seat at our table for a little common union between poets, tale tellers, artists, musicians and of course, our audience.
Food for Thought will feature the poems and stories of Adeli Brito, Amy Harris-Aber, Angel Hu, Missy Lay, Zabby Myers, CA Williams and Jenny Zhong; the music of Hayley Amour, formerly of the Steel Blossoms; visual art by CatieBeth Thomas; and a live art performance by Gregory Lannom!
There will be OPEN MIC segments throughout the show, so prepare a maximum 4-minute piece to share on the theme and email poetryintheboro@gmail.com to put your name in the hat for a slot!
More about the Bloom Stage
Bloom Stage is a quarterly event that brings a blend of storytelling, poetry, music and art to the Murfreesboro stage at the Walnut House. The series is produced by Kara J Kemp with assistance from Kory Wells, and this show will be co-produced with Amy Harris-Aber. The Bloom Stage celebrates the ability of art to honor both the diversity and commonality of human experience, and to satisfy a vital human need for connection. It seeks to present established and emerging storytellers, poets, performers and artists and to encourage unity among communities whose stories often go unheard.
Donations at the door are appreciated, but admission is free thanks to a sponsorship by Grady Payne at FM Bank, Shannon Wheeler, and Kara Kemp Coaching.
