We’re so excited to be producing an anthology in honor of Poetry in the Boro’s 10th anniversary in 2026!
The purpose of our anthology is to celebrate the creative work of everyone actively involved in PitB gatherings, both now and throughout our history (including our time online during the pandemic). We also want something to share with the larger poetry-curious community in and around Murfreesboro! We’re calling on all of the PitB community to submit your best work for publication. We also need a limited amount of visual art for the anthology.
Eligibility: Unlike some of our projects, simply living in Murfreesboro or having lived in Murfreesboro does not meet our qualifications for this anthology. Regardless of where you live now, we want submissions from those of you who
- have attended at least two of our events (including the Bloom Stage), or
- attended our online gatherings during the pandemic, or
- have been a feature for one of our events
If you are eligible to submit, then we will choose at least one of your poems for publication.
What we want to see and how to submit
While we plan to include strong poems on all themes, if you have poem(s) inspired by or informed by PitB, we’d especially love to see those! You can include a note about that after the poem. We are also interested in poems that reflect life in the Murfreesboro area.
Poetry Submission Instructions: Please prepare a file containing 2 to 3 poems, not to exceed 3 pages total. Put a page break between poems. Please use Times New Roman or a similarly readable, 12 point font.
Help us out by including your name in your file name: i.e. jane_doe_poems.doc.
*IMPORTANT NOTE: If your poem has been published elsewhere, please indicate where it previously appeared in a line below the poem. Absolutely no AI generated work!
